Can you take bottled water on a cruise ship. Milk and distilled water brought on for infant medical or dietary use are permitted. Apparently some time in mid-2015 the decision was made to not allow bottled water to be brought on their ships by guests either by carryon or in baggage given to the porters. Better yet book on a cruise ship with a rock-climbing wall zipline water slide ropes course ice skating rink skydiving or surfing simulator bowling andor bumper cars and you really wont.
All water onboard is common source from the ships tanks so the sink shower ice maker bar gun galley laundry etc all use the same water. Disney Cruise Line offer soft drinks for free with meals but there is a charge at other times and bottled water is always chargeable on board. In that case you can bring your own but soda and water should be unopened and brought in your carry-on luggage NOT in your checked suitcases.

I think the reason is because people were emptying the water bottles and filling them with alcohol like vodka rum etc. As of July 15 2016 Norwegian Cruise Line NCL has implemented a new policy prohibiting passengers from bringing water or soda bottled or canned on their ships.
